China is ready for more fruitful and deeper cooperation with Thailand as the two countries enter the “Golden Jubilee” year of relations under the strategic guidance of their leaders. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the statement during a meeting with Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand in Beijing.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand, as well as the “Golden Jubilee of China-Thailand Friendship”. Wang described Princess Sirindhorn as a cherished friend of the Chinese people and an outstanding envoy who has consolidated the friendship between the two countries. Noting that Sirindhorn, who has visited China 55 times so far, has closely witnessed the country’s reform and opening-up process, Wang said the princess has deepened the mutual understanding and affection between the people of the two countries by explaining Chinese modernization to the Thai people. China expects the Thai royal family to continue its special role in promoting bilateral relations, Wang said, adding that the friendship between the two countries will be further strengthened. Princess Sirindhorn said the Thai royal family attaches great importance to traditional friendship with China. She said that concrete cooperation in the fields of agriculture, science and technology, and culture has brought significant benefits to the Thai people, adding that they see the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations as a starting point for further strengthening ties between the two countries.
