Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that China is committed to collaborating with Africa to establish the Global Security Initiative on the continent and create a peaceful modernization path. He emphasized China’s readiness to build an all-weather China-Africa community for a shared future and reiterated support for African-led solutions to African problems. “The African people are the true masters of the continent, possessing the wisdom, ability, and right to solve their issues,” Wang said.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar, Wang highlighted that China-Nigeria relations contribute to Africa’s modernization and deepen China-Africa cooperation. Wang noted that China-Nigeria ties have been elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership under the strategic guidance of both nations’ leaders. The China-Nigeria Intergovernmental Committee has further strengthened and coordinated bilateral cooperation. He also emphasized that both sides have closely collaborated on international and regional matters, contributing to the development and revitalization of the Global South.
Wang called for exploring new cooperation areas, including clean energy and green minerals, and expanding ties in sectors like trade, agriculture, defense, and technology. He expressed confidence in a brighter future for the comprehensive China-Nigeria strategic partnership.
