Venezuela’s incumbent President Nicolas Maduro won the presidential elections in the country.
According to Report, this announcement was made by Elvis Amoroso, President of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela (CNE).
All Venezuelan TV channels were broadcasting from the election commission.
Amoroso released the first CNE ballot after 80 per cent of the votes were counted, showing that 5,150,092 voters, or 51.2 per cent of those who voted, supported Maduro.
Maduro’s main rival, far-right candidate Edmundo Gonzalez, was supported by 4,445,978 voters, or 44.2 per cent of those who voted, while a total of 4.6 per cent of voters cast ballots for eight other candidates.
