The European Union will not be able to send observers to the elections in Venezuela until all sanctions against the country are fully cancelled.
Elvis Amoroso, President of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela (CNE), said.
‘The National Electoral Council declares that the European Union will not take part in any electoral process in Venezuela until all sanctions imposed against the Venezuelan people and affecting children, women, the elderly, the sick, students and businessmen are cancelled,’ Amoroso said.
Earlier, the European Union had criticised Tuesday’s decision not to invite EU observers to the presidential election due to the failure to lift sanctions.
The presidential elections in Venezuela will be held on 28 July.
