According to Trend, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva received British Foreign Secretary David Cameron on 23 April this year.
According to information, during the meeting, the issues of deepening political and diplomatic dialogue between Uzbekistan and the UK, maintaining constructive cooperation in the international arena, strengthening trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian ties, as well as activating parliamentary relations were discussed. It was noted that the relations between the two countries have reached a high level in recent years. The importance of implementing joint projects in the field of green economy development and strengthening cooperation in combating the consequences of climate change was emphasised.
It was also noted the priority importance of developing educational and cultural-humanitarian ties, including practical aspects such as the training of qualified specialists in modern fields in higher educational institutions and the expansion of English-language educational programmes. It is reported that David Cameron emphasised the importance of the work carried out in Uzbekistan to implement the principles of decent work, ensure gender equality and ensure human rights, including combating domestic violence.
