According to Trend, the management of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari A.S. held talks with representatives of Pakistan National Logistics Company (NLC) on cooperation in the fields of transport, logistics and transit trade.

According to the information received, the meeting was chaired by the First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari A.S. Hikmatulla Rakhmetov. The Pakistani side was represented by the head of NLC Farrukh Shahzad Rao, project foreman Muhammad Yusuf and responsible expert Shaib Haqwani.

It is reported that the main topic of the meeting was the implementation of multimodal railway transport (during the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway corridor) from Pakistan via Uzbekistan to the CIS countries, including Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and other countries. The Pakistani side expressed interest in this proposal, especially given the high demand for the transport of agricultural products.

The Uzbek side emphasised that refrigerator wagons could be used for the transport of agricultural products and offered favourable conditions and discounts for transport on these routes.

The parties also discussed the construction of logistics facilities, warehouses and transit terminals in both countries. It was agreed to work together with NLC in the port of Karachi.

At the end of the meeting, Hikmatullah Rakhmetov and Farrukh Shahzad Rao signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which envisages several stages of joint work, including expanding cooperation in the field of multimodal logistics, increasing freight traffic and attracting more cargo through both countries.
