UN Secretary-General António Guterres arrived in Tashkent on Sunday on an official visit.
Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and other officials welcomed the distinguished guest at the capital’s airport, the press service of the head of government reported.
“Gazeta.uz” wrote that during the two-day visit, meetings with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and other officials will be held.
The talks will focus on expanding Uzbekistan’s cooperation with the UN and its agencies, global politics and regional interaction.
António Guterres will also visit Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. On 4 July, he will address the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Astana.
The UN chief previously visited Central Asia in 2017.
