Ukrainian Finance Minister Sergii Marchenko urged Western allies to speed up the payment of the $ 50bn loan.
This information was disseminated by APA, the Financial Times reported.
Kiev claims that delays in arms deliveries have led to a growing budget deficit and that Ukraine is therefore forced to find money for the maintenance of the army.
He stressed that slow arms deliveries, especially from the United States, have led to a $ 12 billion increase in military spending, forcing the country to record a deficit that other officials estimate will be slightly less than a quarter of GDP this year, or $ 43,5 billion.
Direct US military aid worth $ 27 billion was approved by Congress in April this year, but payments are moving slowly: “We still lack the necessary weapons, ammunition and shells,” Marchenko said.
