Turkmenistan and Iran held Caspian Sea border talks

According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, Turkmen-Iranian bilateral consultations were held on April 7-8 at the Turkmen Institute of the Caspian Sea in Ashgabat. During the talks, documents on demarcation of the maritime boundary line, delimitation of fishing zones and sharing of the bottom of the Caspian Sea were discussed. 

The Turkmen delegation was headed by Myrat Atajanov, Director of the Caspian Sea Institute of Turkmenistan, while the Iranian delegation was headed by Alireza Jahangiri, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Caspian Sea Affairs. The sides discussed bilateral and quintet (Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, Turkmenistan) cooperation, as well as various issues related to the environmental problems of the Caspian Sea. The meeting aimed to strengthen regional cooperation and take steps in line with common interests.
