Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and Francis Malige, Director General for Financial Institutions of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), discussed the issues of future cooperation. In particular, the two sides discussed the implementation of joint projects in the fields of energy, infrastructure and private sector development.
Turkmenistan officials emphasized the importance of EBRD’s financial and technical support in achieving the country’s sustainable development goals. EBRD, in turn, expressed its readiness to evaluate new investment opportunities to further increase Turkmenistan’s economic potential. The steps to be taken to strengthen the private sector and create a competitive business environment were also discussed during the talks. EBRD’s current projects in Turkmenistan and future cooperation opportunities were discussed.
