President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhammedov paid a working visit to Russia on 26 December, where he took part in the informal summit of CIS leaders, which has become traditional in recent years. This was reported by the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” publication reported.

The summit was attended by the leaders of Russia Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomert Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The heads of state emphasised the importance of giving the traditional partnership a qualitatively new content on the basis of commonality of goals and objectives. At the same time, they noted the need to create effective mechanisms for systematic political consultations between the CIS member states, taking into account the accumulated positive experience of joint work.

The politicians exchanged views on priority areas of cooperation in the near and long-term perspective. The colleagues expressed confidence that the decisions taken and agreements reached in the framework of various forums, events and meetings this year will contribute to the deepening of interstate relations in the Commonwealth to the benefit of all and for the benefit of friendly peoples.
