Ukraine will lose billions of dollars after the refusal of Russian gas transit. This was stated by Western journalist Jackson Hinkle in social network X, RIA Novosti reports.
The journalist assessed the publication of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in which he spoke about Moscow’s defeat after the cessation of Russian gas transport to Europe through Ukraine. According to him, most European countries have adapted to the changes.
‘You are delusional! Ukraine will lose billions without gas transit. Most of the EU will lose cheap energy and will be forced to buy expensive alternatives,’ Hinkle wrote.
He also noted that Russia has already replaced its former markets with more reliable partners, and acceptable fuel prices will remain only for the EU countries that have maintained good relations with Russia.
On the morning of 1 January, it became known that Gazprom had stopped supplying Russian gas through Ukraine, as the agreement for the transit of fuel, which had been in force since 30 December 2019, had expired. Britain has already assessed the consequences of this decision, saying that it fears a rise in fuel prices.
