In 2024, pipeline gas supplies from Russia to Europe increased by 14 per cent to 32.1 billion cubic metres. This was reported by ‘Vedomosti’ with reference to ‘Gazprom’ and the European Network of Gas Transmission System Operators (ENTSOG).
It is noted that in December exports rose by seven per cent year-on-year to 2.83 billion cubic metres, which turned out to be the highest value since August 2023.
Last year, supplies were mainly growing due to the Turkish Stream gas pipeline. They increased by 23 per cent to 16.7 billion cubic metres. As for exports to the European Union through the gas transport system (GTS) of Ukraine, in 2024 they amounted to 15.4 billion cubic metres, which is six per cent higher than in 2023. It is noted that thus ‘Turkish Stream’ at the end of 2024 for the first time turned out to be the main route of pipeline exports of Russian gas in the European direction.
Earlier there was a forecast, according to which the demand for Russian gas supplies via ‘Turkish Stream’, as well as in the form of LNG will remain high. There is also an opinion that the termination of Russian gas transit through Ukraine will hit the entire European Union.
