The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR or the Central Corridor) offers great opportunities for world trade.
Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said this in his speech at a meeting with scientists, Trend reported on Friday.
‘The country’s enormous transit and logistics potential must be used effectively. The Trans-Caspian international transport route offers great opportunities for world trade. By 2027 we plan to increase the volume of cargo traffic on this corridor to 10 million tonnes per year,’ the head of state said.
According to him, in order to strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as the transit hub of Eurasia, it is necessary to develop road, air and rail transport.
He pointed out that the Central Corridor connects the container rail freight transport networks of China and the European Union through the countries of Central Asia, the Caucasus, Turkey and Eastern Europe.
The multilateral multimodal transport infrastructure connects ferry terminals in the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea with the railway systems of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Ukraine and Poland.
The central corridor facilitates increased cargo traffic from China to Turkey and European countries and vice versa.
A train travelling along this corridor delivers cargo from China to Europe in 20-25 days on average, which is one of the most important advantages of this transport corridor.
