Presidents of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan discuss prospects for the development of bilateral ties between the countries

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed prospects of development of bilateral relations of the countries on the margins of the EU-Central Asia Summit in Samarkand.

This was reported on Thursday by Trend with reference to the press service of the President of Tajikistan.

During the meeting the state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries, as well as topical international and regional issues were discussed. Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of bilateral ties, especially in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.Particular attention was paid to the signing of the Treaty on Allied Relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, which was recognised as an important step for further strengthening interstate cooperation. The sides discussed issues of promoting interaction in various industrial sectors, realising the export and investment potential of both countries, as well as expanding interregional ties.
