Tajikistan and Kazakhstan are preparing to sign an agreement to strengthen cooperation in the energy sector. The agreement envisages the realization of joint projects between the two countries, especially in the fields of electric power generation, transmission and trade.

Officials from the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan met to discuss the details of the agreement. During the talks, it was agreed to cooperate to utilize the energy resources of the two countries more efficiently and increase regional energy security. As a country known for its rich hydroelectric potential, Tajikistan generates a lot of electricity, especially in the summer months. Kazakhstan, on the other hand, has significant potential, especially in terms of fossil fuels and renewable energy resources. The agreement between the two countries envisages Tajikistan exporting its hydroelectric power to Kazakhstan and Kazakhstan sharing other energy resources with Tajikistan. This cooperation is especially important for increasing energy trade among Central Asian countries and strengthening regional integration. The two countries are also expected to develop joint projects to modernize energy infrastructure and improve energy efficiency. Officials from Tajikistan and Kazakhstan have stated that this agreement will not only serve the economic interests of the two countries, but will also contribute to the energy security of the entire Central Asian region. The official signing of the agreement will take place in the coming weeks.
