Tajikistan and Germany to develop wind and solar engineering

The two countries discussed the possibilities of expanding partnership within the framework of the Summit of Heads of State of Central Asia and Germany.

Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon met with German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz in the capital of Kazakhstan on the sidelines of the second summit of heads of state of Central Asia and Germany. During the meeting, issues of development of bilateral relations and regional cooperation, including in the field of wind and solar energy, were discussed. This was reported by the press service of the President of Tajikistan.

The sides expressed interest in the development of cooperation in the economic, trade, industrial, hydropower, solar and wind energy, transport and agricultural sectors. Emomali Rakhmon thanked Germany for its contribution to the construction of the Tajikistan and Sebzor power plants in Badakhshan and the modernisation of the Nurek HPP. The President expressed confidence that this experience will be continued in the construction of the Rogun power plant.

Mining and mineral processing, in particular rare earth elements, were identified as promising areas of co-operation. The expansion of industrial and agricultural co-operation and the export of products from Tajikistan to Germany were also discussed.

Olaf Scholz said that Germany is interested in co-operation with Tajikistan in the energy sector, especially in hydropower, as well as in mining, environmental protection and security. The Chancellor added that Germany encourages global German companies to cooperate with Tajikistan.
