NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg expects the US Congress to approve a new aid package for Ukraine soon.
Stoltenberg made the statement at a press conference in Brussels ahead of a meeting of NATO defence ministers, the Report reported, citing TASS.
“I welcome the EU’s decision to allocate aid [50 billion euros over the next four years] and I expect the US Congress’ approval to come soon,” Stoltenberg said.
He emphasised that during his recent visit to the US at the end of January he had several meetings with Republican members of Congress and convinced them to support the aid package for Ukraine.
“I heard from them broad words of support for NATO and Ukraine. I welcome the decision taken in the Senate and I expect it to be followed soon by a decision by the US House of Representatives,” he said.
