Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Chinese president, said in Hanoi on Wednesday that the agreement to build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future carrying strategic significance sends out a positive signal of the two socialist countries’ commitment to solidarity, friendship and joint development.
Xi made the remarks when he met with Chairman of National Assembly of Vietnam Vuong Dinh Hue.
Under the new situation, China and Vietnam should continue to view their relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, and move forward firmly along the path of friendship and cooperation, Xi stressed.
He urged the two sides to strengthen high-level strategic communication, closely exchange experiences in party and national governance, explore the theory and practice of socialist construction, safeguard their common strategic interests, and ensure that the bilateral relations are always on the right track.
Xi called for efforts to promote pragmatic cooperation. The two sides should implement the results of this visit, strengthen cooperation in areas including connectivity, industrial and supply chains, and green economy, he said. The two sides should also properly manage their differences and steadily advance maritime cooperation, especially in joint development, Xi said.
