South Korea officially opened its embassy in Havana, Cuba, marking a significant milestone 11 months after establishing diplomatic ties on February 14, 2024. The embassy, located in Havana’s Miramar district, aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation and provide consular services to South Koreans in Cuba.
The embassy’s opening ceremony included key representatives from both nations, highlighting a strategic move to deepen economic and diplomatic relations despite Cuba’s close ties with North Korea. South Korea’s first ambassador to Cuba, Lee Ho-yul, an expert in trade, will lead efforts to enhance collaboration between the two nations.
