Russia and the member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have agreed to continue developing UN-backed anti-cybercrime measures, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated following the results of the third Russia-ASEAN online meeting held on December 18 related to ensuring the security of information and communication technologies (ICT).
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin and Cambodian State Secretary of the Post and Telecommunications Ministry Keo Sothie co-chaired the meeting.
“Both sides expressed their intention to further develop legally binding instruments under the auspices of the United Nations in the field of combating the use of ICT for criminal purposes and preventing conflicts in the digital environment,” the message says.
The official announced that at the end of the meeting, “[they] reached an agreement to conduct another dialogue session next year.”
