Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has arrived in Cuba, the first stop on his three-nation Latin American tour, which is scheduled for February 19-22.

According to a TASS correspondent, the top diplomat’s plane has landed at Jose Marti International Airport in Havana.

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Lavrov is slated to meet with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla and Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel. The sides plan to review the pressing issues on the agenda of bilateral cooperation, as well as the global and regional agenda.

According to Zakharova, during the talks with the Cuban leadership, Lavrov will discuss the key aspects of bolstering the Russian-Cuban strategic partnership, expanding political dialogue and boosting ties “in the trade and economic, finance and investment, scientific and technological, cultural and humanitarian, and other fields.”

The diplomat pointed out that the agenda will also include the coordination of Moscow and Havana’s efforts toward fighting neocolonial practices and illegitimate unilateral restrictive measures in relations between countries.

Next, Lavrov’s regional tour will take Moscow’s top diplomat to Venezuela on February 20, and then Brazil, where he will take part in a G20 foreign ministers’ meeting on February 21-22.
