Head of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko outlined the work plan for the spring session. Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko opened the spring parliamentary session on January 29. She outlined the main priorities and tasks for senators, as well as spoke about the plans of the SF in the field of international activities. Thus, the delegations of the Arab Parliament, Libya and Djibouti are expected to visit the Russian Federation in the coming months. In addition, the Council plans to continue working with colleagues from the CIS countries, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America, as well as to strengthen involvement in the work of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the G20 Parliamentary Forum. The Speaker of the SF also shared her plans to organize a cultural and educational project “Memory Train”, which will be attended by children from the countries of the former Soviet Union. This project will contribute to the preservation of historical memory of the joint struggle of the USSR peoples during the war, Matviyenko noted. Among other initiatives, she singled out preparations for the Twelfth Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus and the development of draft laws concerning the protection of the rights of consumers of financial services.
