The Presidents of Russia and Tajikistan, Vladimir Putin and Emomali Rahmon, expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral relations, discussing key aspects of co-operation in the humanitarian and economic spheres.
During the meeting, which took place in the Leningrad Region, Putin noted that Russia continues to develop humanitarian ties with Tajikistan, having provided the country with the largest quota of 1,000 places for education in Russian educational institutions. He emphasized that Russia is ready to increase the quota in the future, as it corresponds to the interests of both countries.
Putin also noted the importance of initiatives proposed by Rakhmon, such as the opening of Russian-language schools in Tajikistan. In response, Russia has sent 72 teachers to Tajikistan and the number will increase to 82 from 2025. These steps, according to the Russian president, help strengthen humanitarian ties and expand cultural exchanges between the countries.
