Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. “Putin held a telephone conversation with Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev,” Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“Uzbekistan is our ally and partner,” Peskov said, emphasizing the importance of the strategic relationship between the two countries. “We will share an official statement on this telephone conversation as soon as possible,” the spokesman added. Details of the issues discussed in the conversation between the two leaders have not yet been disclosed. However, bilateral relations and regional cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan are expected to be on the agenda.

Uzbekistan, as one of the key actors in Central Asia, cooperates closely with Russia in political, economic and security spheres. Relations between the two countries have developed to the level of strategic partnership in recent years.
