President of Uzbekistan met with Prime Minister of Pakistan

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif during his working visit to Astana, Trend reports.

According to the information, during the meeting, topical issues related to the development of the Uzbek-Pakistani strategic partnership were discussed with special emphasis on trade and economy, investment, transport and communications.

The parties noted the intensification of contacts at various levels, an increase in the volume of mutual trade and freight traffic, and an increase in the number of joint ventures.

The President of Uzbekistan stressed the importance of creating favourable conditions for increasing the volume of trade within the framework of the Preferential Trade Agreement.

The sides also discussed the need to develop a joint industrial cooperation programme for 2025-2026, including projects in the agricultural, textile, pharmaceutical, chemical and other sectors.

The parties reportedly agreed on the organisation of this year’s regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, a business forum and an industrial exhibition.

The importance of joint efforts to realise the Trans-Afghan railway construction project was stressed.
