President Ilham Aliyev praised Azerbaijan’s admission to the D8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, calling it a significant step for the country’s global stature. He noted that Azerbaijan is the first member accepted following the organization’s initial expansion decision, emphasizing this as both an honor and a responsibility.
Aliyev criticized the absence of the European Commission President at last year’s COP29 in Azerbaijan, despite prior confirmation. “The absence raises many questions, though COP29 itself was not affected,” he remarked.
On economic growth, Aliyev underscored Azerbaijan’s resilience amidst global challenges, attributing success to thoughtful policies, reforms, and improved transparency. He highlighted positive shifts in international ratings and expressed confidence in sustained economic development in the years ahead.
The president emphasized the government’s commitment to social welfare, citing increases in minimum wages and social packages as a reflection of its focus on citizens’ well-being. “Restoring Karabakh while ensuring social justice shows the essence of our policy,” he stated.
