Beijing to Host China-Indonesia Foreign and Defense Ministers’ Dialogue

China will host the first ministerial-level meeting of the China-Indonesia Joint Foreign and Defense Ministers’ Dialogue in Beijing on Monday, April 22.

The meeting will be chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Defense Minister Dong Jun. Indonesia will be represented by Foreign Minister Sugiono and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin. The meeting was announced by Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian on Friday. The two sides will exchange views on bilateral relations, political security and defense cooperation, as well as international and regional issues. The meeting has special significance as this year marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia. The China-Indonesia Joint Foreign and Defense Ministers’ Dialogue is the first “2+2” mechanism established by China at this level. Lin Jian stressed that China and Indonesia are good neighbors and good partners, adding that the dialogue reflects the high level and strategic importance of bilateral cooperation.
