Pakistan is interested in importing energy resources from Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin told Trend.

‘Kazakhstan regularly receives requests from its Pakistani friends for the supply of Kazakh coal, oil, petroleum products and natural gas. The main issue on our agenda is logistics. We are closely following the development of the TAPI project (Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India). We closely follow the development of projects such as CASA-1000. These are various regional projects. In this case, we should clearly understand that the regional factor is decisive and even predetermining in the development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan,’ he said.

The diplomat noted that logistics is important for the delivery of these goods.

‘To deliver goods between our countries, we need to go through at least two countries in the region. It can be Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, even China or Tajikistan. Our task at the current stage is to create adequate transport and logistics infrastructure that will allow us to deliver products, including energy resources, smoothly, on time and with high quality.’ Kistafin pointed out that the volume of trade between Kazakhstan and Pakistan in 2023 was $ 52.5 million, 40 per cent less than in 2022 ($ 73.5 million).

Kazakhstan’s exports to Pakistan last year totalled $ 5.7 million, while imports from Pakistan amounted to $ 46.8 million.
