Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan discussed strengthening bilateral relations

Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Serdar Berdimuhamedov discussed issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Turkmen relations in a telephone conversation on 22 September.

This was announced by the press service of the Uzbek leader.

According to the information, Shavkat Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated the President of Turkmenistan on his birthday and wished the brotherly Turkmen people strong health, well-being and great success, peace and prosperity.

It is noted that during the meeting the sides discussed issues of further development and strengthening of the Uzbek-Turkmen strategic partnership, and also noted the intensive political dialogue and fruitful interdepartmental contacts, including within the framework of the Intergovernmental Commission.

The sides noted the increase in the volume of bilateral trade, deepening of cooperation in the energy and transport spheres, as well as the growth of interregional and cultural-humanitarian exchanges.

The heads of state also reviewed the current aspects of the regional agenda and the programme of joint events.
