On 26 September, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov held a meeting with Singapore’s Second Minister of Finance and National Development Indrani Rajoy at the Prime Minister’s Office in Samarkand, Trend reported.
During the meeting, the sides emphasised the role of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank as an important platform in promoting regional cooperation and economic growth. The Uzbek side expressed interest in deepening cooperation with the AIIB and Singapore as one of the founding members of the Bank and a country committed to strengthening international economic ties and developing sustainable infrastructure in Asia.
Prospects for expanding trade, economic and investment co-operation with Singapore were discussed. Over the past seven years, the volume of trade has doubled and the volume of Singaporean investments has reached almost USD 1 billion.
Systematic work has begun on the timely implementation in 2023 of investment agreements worth $ 3.9 billion reached during the summit visits. These are major projects in the chemical industry, management of strategic assets, construction of logistics centres, agriculture and education. The Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade provides targeted support for each project.
