Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov met in Tashkent with members of the delegation headed by World Bank Director General for Operations Anna Bjerde.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the latest trends in the global economy, the sustainability of Uzbekistan’s economic growth, the effective use of artificial intelligence, the creation of new employment opportunities, the attraction of advanced technologies to the country and the role of the World Trade Organization in international trade. While emphasizing that increasing quality employment opportunities in sectors such as health, tourism, agriculture and industry is one of the priorities, the meeting also discussed issues such as socio-economic reforms carried out in Uzbekistan, ensuring macroeconomic stability, increasing the effectiveness of fiscal policy, achieving inflation targets, infrastructure projects implemented in public-private partnership, transformation and privatization processes of state enterprises, improving energy efficiency, creating a green and sustainable heating system, and developing transportation and logistics systems. World Bank officials highly appreciated the steps taken by Uzbekistan to support macroeconomic stability and economic growth. Following the meeting, the parties agreed to expand the exchange of ideas and experience and continue systematic cooperation in the above areas to achieve common goals.
