Uzbekistan and the U.S. have discussed the reboot of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP), which will allow expanding access of Uzbek products to U.S. markets.

As Trend reported on Monday, this became known during a meeting between Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce David De Falco.

The sides discussed a wide range of bilateral issues aimed at strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The participants of the meeting also considered joint measures to develop cooperation in geology and metallurgy, chemistry and textile industry.

The U.S. delegation noted readiness to provide technical and consulting assistance to Uzbekistan’s participation in the SABIT program to improve the skills of local enterprises in international marketing and export diversification, which will strengthen the potential of the national brand “Made in Uzbekistan”. The sides also discussed Uzbekistan’s participation in the Commercial Law and Development Program (CLDP).
