President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with a delegation of the Egyptian Senate headed by Senate President Abdulwahab Abdulrazik on 30 May, Trend reported, citing the presidential press service.
According to the information, during the meeting, important issues of deepening the Uzbek-Egyptian partnership and expanding cooperation in various fields were discussed.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with active contacts and exchanges at all levels. The growth of the volume of mutual trade and the increase in the number of joint ventures were noted. Cooperation projects with leading Egyptian companies in the fields of geology, agriculture, energy and tourism are being implemented.
The importance of further strengthening of inter-parliamentary ties, establishment of friendship groups in legislative bodies, ensuring the highest level of parliamentary oversight over the implementation of agreements and exchange of experience in the field of protection and strengthening of women’s rights were emphasised.
Particular attention was paid to the continuation of practical cooperation within the framework of international organisations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the Non-Aligned Movement and the Arab Parliament.
