In the coming days we will sign an agreement on supply of green energy to Europe. This was stated by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, making a national statement at the COP29 conference in Baku, Trend reports.
‘Together with neighbouring countries, we have launched a regional climate strategy. In the coming days we will sign a multilateral agreement on supply of clean energy to the European Union,’ he said.
According to the President, Uzbekistan’s main goal under the Paris Agreement is to prevent temperature rise in the region from outpacing and keep it within 1.5 degrees this century.
‘In this regard, we are actively pursuing large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan to achieve carbon neutrality. We have set a target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 35 per cent by 2030. We are ready to extend this commitment until 2050. We will increase the share of green energy to 40 per cent,’ Mirziyoyev added.
