Central Asia-European Union Ministerial Meeting Held in Ashgabat

The 20th “Central Asia – European Union” ministerial meeting was held in Ashgabat under the chairmanship of European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas.

The meeting was attended by the foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, as well as the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas. During the talks, areas of joint cooperation such as regional security, trade, transport links, energy and green transformation were discussed. In particular, the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor and increasing economic integration between Central Asia and the EU came to the fore. “The European Union is committed to deepening its strategic cooperation with Central Asia. We will continue to support joint projects for the stability and sustainable development of the region.” This meeting is considered as an important preparatory step before the first “Central Asia-European Union Summit” to be held on April 3-4 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
