Moldova will leave the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) by the end of next year.
Doina Gherman, head of the country’s parliamentary commission for foreign policy and European integration, made the announcement, APA reported.
The head of the commission noted that Moldova had recently terminated three agreements in the CIS in the fields of defence and education and was almost at the final stage of withdrawal from the community:
“We aim to complete the process by the end of 2024. Moldova will not suffer any economic damage by leaving the CIS”.
Gherman also said that Moldova would benefit from leaving the CIS because it would not have to pay contributions to the CIS.
