The 23rd meeting of the Mongolia-European Union (EU) Joint Committee was held in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar. The meeting was co-chaired by Munkhtushig Lkhanaajav, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, and Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Director for Asia-Pacific of the European Union External Action Service (EEAS).
The sides exchanged information on the latest political, social and economic developments and discussed ways to expand bilateral relations and cooperation in line with long-term common development goals. In particular, they discussed strengthening cooperation in the field of renewable energy and green transformation and increasing trade volumes through the development of the EU’s Generalized System of Preferences (GSP). Combining joint efforts to contribute to the fight against climate change was also on the agenda. The parties reiterated their commitment to effectively implement the measures in the roadmap prepared under the “Forest Partnership” Memorandum of Understanding. They also discussed the outcomes of the Human Rights Dialogue and Development Cooperation Working Group meetings organized within the Joint Committee.
