With the growing demand for electricity and the need to reduce carbon emissions, nuclear energy in Kazakhstan is becoming an attractive solution due to its high efficiency and environmental friendliness.
Kazakhstan Atomic Power Plants (KNPP) said this in response to Trend’s enquiry.
According to the source, the planned NPP construction will have a positive multiplier effect on the economy of Kazakhstan.
The company also stressed that within the framework of the seminar on introduction to the management system held in Astana, experts of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) presented the organisation’s approaches and standards, experience of NPP construction projects in other countries and recommendations for further development of nuclear energy in Kazakhstan.
‘IAEA experts noted the presence in Kazakhstan of basic infrastructure and specialised higher education institutions providing training of specialists for the nuclear industry’, – reported in KNPP.
Recall that on 6 October 2024 in Kazakhstan held a referendum on the construction of nuclear power plants, at which 71.12% of Kazakhstanis voted for the project.
