Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev met with Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev, who arrived in Kyrgyzstan on an official visit on March 18, to discuss Kyrgyzstan’s priorities and initiatives within the organization. During the meeting, issues such as regional security, economic cooperation and strengthening cultural ties were discussed.
Kulubayev stressed that Kyrgyzstan will continue to play an active role for regional stability and development within the SCO. He also noted that they are working on new projects and initiatives for the country to take a more active part in the organization. Secretary General Yermekbayev, in turn, appreciated Kyrgyzstan’s contribution to the SCO and called for constructive steps, especially in the areas of regional security and economic cooperation. The two sides agreed to cooperate more closely in the coming period. During the meeting, preparations for the upcoming SCO summit and other high-level meetings were also discussed.
