Trade in agricultural products between Kyrgyzstan and Russia increased by 6% in January-November 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year. This was announced by the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.

Russian Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maksim Titov held a working meeting with Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan Samat Nasirdinov and discussed cooperation in the agricultural sector between the two countries. Topics such as food safety and price regulation, breeding and genetics, training and experience sharing, and digitalization in agriculture were discussed. Titov noted that Russia and Kyrgyzstan contribute to food security by supplying each other with necessary food products and expressed confidence that fruitful cooperation between the two countries will continue in the future. This development shows that Kyrgyzstan’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which gives it access to a market of 180 million people, opens up great opportunities for the development of the agricultural sector. However, the potential of Kyrgyz agricultural products has not yet been fully utilized in Russia, Kazakhstan and other countries. Moreover, given that Russian exports of agricultural products have increased by 8% since the beginning of 2024, reaching 70 million tons, agricultural trade between the two countries is expected to increase further.
