Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan Erkinbek Osoev held a meeting in Tokyo with Special Advisor to the Prime Minister of Japan Akihisa Nagashima on preparations for the first “Central Asia + Japan” summit, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.
During the meeting, the details of the summit, which is planned to be held in 2025, were discussed. The two sides emphasized the importance of this summit for the development of cooperation between Central Asian countries and Japan and strengthening regional stability. Osoev noted that Kyrgyzstan will actively participate in the summit and support the advancement of regional dialogue. Nagashima, in turn, reiterated Japan’s commitment to strengthening economic, cultural and political ties with the countries of Central Asia. The “Central Asia + Japan” dialogue was launched in 2004 and aims to promote multilateral cooperation between the countries of the region and Japan. This summit, which will be held at the leaders’ level for the first time, will contribute to opening a new chapter in relations. Bilateral trade, investment opportunities and cultural exchange programs were also discussed during the meeting.
