Kenyan President William Ruto will pay an official visit to China from April 22-26 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The visit was announced by Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian in a statement on Thursday.
Spokesperson Lin said that the friendly relations between China and Kenya are rooted in the ancient Maritime Silk Road. In the new era, the two countries have established a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, which has been shaped by frequent high-level contacts, deepening political trust, concrete results achieved under the Belt and Road Initiative, and close cooperation on regional and international issues. During the visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold a welcoming ceremony and an official dinner for Kenyan President Ruto. Official talks will also be held between the two leaders. The Kenyan President will also meet separately with Chinese Premier Li Chiang and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress. “We believe that this visit will contribute to deepening China-Kenya relations, implementing the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era, and promoting unity and cooperation within the Global South,” Spokesperson Lin said.
