Kazakhstan plans to increase the transit of Russian gas to Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan this year and the transit of Turkmen and Uzbek gas to China, Kazakh Energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev said, ‘Vlast.kz’ reports.

‘In October 2023, the transit of Russian gas to the Republic of Uzbekistan was launched. In 2023, 1.28 billion cubic metres were transported, we plan to increase it to 3.8 billion cubic metres this year, and then increase it to 11 billion cubic metres per year,’ Satkaliev said during a government meeting.

He said the transport of Turkmen and Uzbek gas to China was also showing ‘steady growth’. Kazakhstan plans to increase transit to 37.1 billion cubic metres this year, Satkaliyev said. As indicated in the background information, the increase to China will be +1.5 billion cubic metres.

According to the minister, the issue of increasing Russian gas transit to Kyrgyzstan is also being discussed.
