Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to China Nuryshev Shakhrat said bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and China have reached an “unprecedented” level of strength, adding that the two countries aim to double trade volume in the coming years and deepen cooperation under multilateral frameworks.

Speaking at a press conference at the Kazakhstan Embassy in Beijing on Friday, Nuryshev praised the growing cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of connectivity and trade. Referring to global trade tensions, he said unilateral tariff hikes do not promote economic and trade development, but rather disrupt global supply chains, leading to the fragmentation of world trade. “Raising tariffs is not an effective measure and cannot solve the relevant problems,” Nuryshev said, emphasizing that problems, especially in the trade sector, should be resolved through negotiations. Nuryshev highlighted the bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, as well as the achievements in multilateral platforms such as the China-Central Asia cooperation mechanism and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), noting the benefits of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). “Thanks to its geographical advantage, Kazakhstan has become a key hub on the transport routes between Asia and Europe. It offers the shortest link connecting Europe with Central Asia, China and Southeast Asia,” Nuryshev said, adding that thanks to the BRI, his country is able to fully utilize its transit potential, which brings great benefits to Kazakhstan.
