Due to its strategic location, Kazakhstan aims to become the leading trade and logistics hub of Eurasia.
President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev said this at the Kazakh-Slovenian business forum, Trend reports.
According to President Tokayev, Kazakhstan can provide direct access to markets with more than 1.5 billion consumers within the Eurasian Economic Union, Central Asia and China.
‘Currently, our country provides 90 per cent of land trade between Europe and China. We are actively developing the most important international transit corridors such as the Midland Corridor and North-South. Our ports of Aktau and Kuryk play an important role in transit through the Caspian Sea,’ President Tokayev said at the business forum.
He also noted that Kazakhstan aims to become a bright ‘beacon’ of commerce and a complex network of logistics connecting the vast expanses of Eurasia.
‘Today Kazakhstan produces 19 out of 34 rare earth elements, which are extremely important for the EU economy, and actively co-operates with leading global companies to unlock the potential of this sector through a pragmatic formula: investment and technology in exchange for raw materials,’ he added. On 31 March, Slovenian President Natasa Pirtz-Musar arrived on an official visit to Kazakhstan, where she met with President Tokayev. The two leaders held talks in both narrow and extended formats. Kasym-Jomart Tokayev emphasised that the visit of the Slovenian President opens exceptional prospects for deepening and expanding the Kazakh-Slovenian partnership.
