Kazakhstan will appoint an ambassador to the Republic of Congo.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev made the announcement during extended talks with Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso in Astana, Trend reported on Friday, citing Akorda.

“We consider your country an important partner on the African continent. Despite the geographical distance, we are interested in the comprehensive development of bilateral relations. We have great potential for interaction. In particular, it is necessary to intensify cooperation between the two countries in trade and economy, agriculture, transport and logistics, industry, investment, new technologies and space exploration, as well as in the mining sector. I am confident that the documents to be signed during today’s visit will contribute to deepening trade and economic relations. A vivid proof of our intentions will be the appointment of the Kazakh ambassador to the Republic of Congo.”

Denis Sassou Nguesso said that Kazakhstan’s decision to appoint a diplomatic representative to Congo will strengthen bilateral cooperation.

“Indeed, this is a vivid confirmation of your determination to establish effective cooperation between Astana and Brazzaville. Our governments have developed a number of agreements, which we have agreed to jointly implement. This work will be fruitful and mutually beneficial for both sides. I would like to note that Kazakhstan has made great strides in the field of development in recent years. We would like to deepen economic cooperation with your country,” he said.

During the meeting, the heads of state also discussed the prospects for the development of the Kazakh-Congolese partnership. In particular, special attention was paid to expanding cooperation in the areas of trade and economy, energy, transport and logistics, mining, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as finance and digitalisation.
