Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan discussed increasing mutual trade

Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliyev and Minister of Investment Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov discussed issues of increasing mutual trade at a meeting in Tashkent, Trend reports.

Arman Shakkaliyev noted that the leaders of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan set an ambitious task of doubling the volume of trade between the two countries to $ 10 billion, and within a week the potential for a specific list of products with indication of volumes will be prepared. The minister also said that an agreement had been reached on active cooperation through the UzKazTrade company. This primarily concerns the supply of fruit and vegetable products in the off-season and textiles from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan.

The supply of petroleum products and ferrous metallurgical products in the opposite direction was also reportedly discussed.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of projects within the framework of the “Central Asia” international centre for industrial cooperation and the expansion of trade cooperation between the regions of the two countries.

The Minister also said that in order to eliminate administrative barriers to trade, a roadmap on the problems of exporters will be developed, which will reflect the main problematic issues, the level of their occurrence and ways of their solution.
