President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty (National Council) of Turkmenistan, have discussed issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Turkmen cooperation.
The two sides held a telephone conversation during which they congratulated each other and the peoples of the two countries on the coming year 2025, Trend reported on Monday citing the office of the Uzbek President.
The conversation highlighted the dynamic growth of mutual trade turnover, expansion of cooperation in energy, transport, industry, agriculture and water management, intensification of interdepartmental and interregional contacts, business and cultural and humanitarian exchange.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of high-level international events held this year in honour of the broad celebration of the 300th anniversary of poet and thinker Makhtumkuli Fraghi. He noted that Uzbek and Turkmen cinematographers have jointly shot a feature film, and several joint events have been organised.
The sides discussed regional cooperation in the context of preparations for the next session of the Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia.
