Experts participating in the Omani-mediated talks between Iran and the United States in Muscat will discuss economic and banking issues in today’s session.
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ismail Baghai told local media that the Iranian delegation is led by Deputy Foreign Ministers and includes experts on sanctions relief, economy, banking and cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). “Iran’s basic position on the importance of lifting sanctions on the country is clear. Iran declares its readiness to increase confidence in the peaceful nature of its nuclear program. Experience shows that an agreement that respects Iran’s rights under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) can be reached and confidence can be built.” The third round of talks, which began today in Oman, will see Iran and the United States engage in technical level negotiations. They are expected to focus on lifting sanctions on Iran and its nuclear program.
